Where it came from
Dug with Medal, identified as Pop! number 1093 in the Disney series, was released to coincide with the premiere of the Pixar animated series Dug Days on Disney+. The figure celebrates the character Dug, the lovable Golden Retriever from the 2009 film Up, and depicts him in his signature joyful state, complete with the Junior Wilderness Explorer medal he earns at the conclusion of his cinematic journey. Funko designed this iteration to capture Dug's wide-eyed enthusiasm, translating his animated proportions into the iconic stylized vinyl aesthetic that characterizes the Pop! product line.
The design draws directly from the heartwarming conclusion of Up, reflecting themes of belonging and loyalty that define the character. As part of the wider Disney expansion for Funko, this piece serves as a companion to various other figures from the franchise, catering to collectors who focus on Pixar history. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the series for its specific reference to the medal ceremony, a pivotal emotional moment that cemented Dug as a fan-favorite character in the Pixar canon.
