Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney line, this figure represents Russell from the Pixar short series Dug Days, which debuted on Disney+ in 2021. The series serves as a direct follow-up to the 2009 film Up, focusing on the domestic adventures of the golden retriever, Dug, in his new suburban home. This figure captures Russell in his Wilderness Explorer uniform, complete with his signature sash and sash-laden cap, reflecting the whimsical, soft-edged art style established in the short film.
The design follows Funko’s signature aesthetic, emphasizing the character's wide-eyed, youthful expression and iconic scout attire to evoke nostalgia for the original film. As part of the broader Disney catalog, this piece was aimed at collectors who value the continued narrative arcs of legacy Pixar characters. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise for its faithful translation of Russell's updated character model into the stylized, vinyl Pop! format.
