Emi

Emi is part of the Pop! Asia series, a specialized line released by Funko that explored cultural icons and traditional motifs through their signature aesthetic. The Omamori Dolls collection draws inspiration from Japanese omamori, which are traditional amulets sold at shrines and temples, believed to provide various forms of luck or protection to the bearer. By blending these deeply rooted cultural objects with the stylized, wide-eyed form of a Pop! figure, the design seeks to honor the iconography of the charms while reimagining them as contemporary collectibles.

The figure was produced to appeal to both fans of global pop culture and individuals interested in the intersection of traditional Japanese design and modern vinyl art. While Funko often relies on licensed intellectual properties, the Omamori series represents an effort to create original, culturally-inspired characters that stand apart from major film or comic franchises. Upon release, these figures were recognized primarily within the niche collector community as a distinctive departure from the standard licensed product pipeline, emphasizing artistic adaptation over existing character recognition.
