Geisha

The Geisha Funko Pop! figure, numbered 386 in the Pop! Movies series, was released as part of the merchandise line for the 2017 feature film Ghost in the Shell. The figure is modeled after the robotic geisha characters featured in the live-action adaptation, which drew heavy aesthetic inspiration from Mamoru Oshii’s original 1995 anime film. These characters are notable for their unsettling, cracked porcelain facial designs and traditional attire, meant to emphasize the juxtaposition between human tradition and cybernetic enhancement in the story’s futuristic setting.

The design of the figure emphasizes the iconic, mask-like face and intricate hair styling of the movie’s geisha robots. Funko’s stylized aesthetic, characterized by oversized heads and simplified features, was applied here to capture the film’s distinctive visual motifs while remaining consistent with the company's broader vinyl toy line. Upon its release, the figure was marketed primarily toward collectors of sci-fi memorabilia and fans of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, serving as a physical representation of the film's production design.
