Where it came from
The Gir (With Cupcake) figure is part of the Funko Pop! Television line, released to commemorate the cult-classic animated series Invader Zim, which originally aired on Nickelodeon in the early 2000s. The figure captures Gir, the erratic and lovable robot companion of the series' protagonist, in his iconic green dog disguise while clutching a cupcake, a nod to his whimsical and often destructive personality traits highlighted throughout the show.
The design follows the signature Funko aesthetic, featuring a stylized oversized head and simplified facial features that transition the show's dark, angular animation style into a collectible vinyl format. Created to appeal to fans of Jhonen Vasquez’s unique dark humor, the piece became a staple for collectors of early-to-mid 2010s pop culture memorabilia, reflecting the show's enduring influence on internet culture and animation history.
