Grape Nerd

The Grape Nerd Pop! figure was released as part of the Ad Icons series, a popular line within the Funko Pop! vinyl collection dedicated to celebrating iconic advertising characters and brand mascots. Inspired by the Wonka-branded candy that debuted in 1983, this figure represents one-half of the classic duo that defined the brand's visual identity. The design translates the anthropomorphic, irregularly shaped candy pieces—characterized by their oversized glasses and playful expressions—into the standard, stylized Funko vinyl aesthetic.

Funko’s design approach for the Ad Icons line typically focuses on nostalgic fidelity, aiming to capture the essence of retro commercial characters that hold significant cultural resonance. The Grape Nerd figure features the recognizable purple color palette and signature eyewear associated with the brand’s long-standing marketing materials. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by candy enthusiasts and toy collectors alike, serving as a commemorative piece for a snack that has maintained a consistent presence in confectionery aisles for decades.
