Where it came from
Released as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive in 2017, this Funko Pop figure captures the iconic 'Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy' musical sequence from the 1991 Ren & Stimpy episode 'Stimpy's Invention.' The figure depicts a wide-eyed, ecstatic Stimpy, a visual callback to the surreal and manic animation style pioneered by creator John Kricfalusi. It serves as a celebration of the 1990s Nicktoons era, specifically targeting collectors with nostalgia for the show's dark humor and exaggerated aesthetic.
The design emphasizes the grotesque charm of the series, utilizing the stylized, oversized-head silhouette characteristic of the Pop! Animation line. Produced in a limited run of 2,500 units, the item was intended to be a centerpiece for fans of cult animation. Upon its debut, it was received as a highly coveted item by convention-goers, effectively bridging the gap between mainstream pop culture collectibles and the underground animation roots of the source material.
