Hazel

Hazel was released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line in 2016, coinciding with the growing popularity of the Eisner Award-winning comic book series Saga, written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples. The figure represents the series' central protagonist and narrator, capturing her iconic appearance as she grows from an infant into a young child within the sprawling, space-faring narrative. The design prioritizes the distinct aesthetic established by Staples, focusing on Hazel’s signature look while adhering to the standardized, oversized-head silhouette that defines the Funko brand.

The creation of the Saga figure line was viewed as a significant milestone for indie comics in the collectibles market, signaling the series' transition into mainstream pop culture recognition. Because the comics are known for their intricate character designs and emotionally grounded storytelling, fans and critics alike responded to the release with interest, seeing it as a respectful adaptation of a complex source material. The figure has since become a staple for enthusiasts of modern graphic novels, serving as a tangible connection to the imaginative and often poignant world created by the creative team.
