Where it came from
Hello Sunshine is a figure within the Funko Pop! Ad Icons series, a collection dedicated to celebrating iconic brand mascots and advertising characters from cultural history. Released to commemorate the cheerful yellow sun character famously featured in promotional materials for the Sunshine Biscuits company, the figure captures the mid-century aesthetic that defined the brand's identity throughout the twentieth century.
The design of this Pop! figure draws directly from the classic illustrative style of the Sunshine Biscuits mascot, known for its beaming expression and bright, minimalist aesthetic. Funko designers aimed to translate this nostalgic two-dimensional graphic into their signature vinyl format, emphasizing the character's signature sunny disposition. Upon its release, the figure was welcomed by collectors of advertising memorabilia as a playful nod to the golden age of American snack food marketing.
