Where it came from
Herry Monster, a gentle giant of the Sesame Street cast, was introduced to the Funko Pop! vinyl figure line as part of the initial Sesame Street series released in 2015. This figure, numbered 11, captures the character's distinctively shaggy, blue appearance and his signature friendly, albeit sometimes clumsy, demeanor. The design honors the Jim Henson-created puppet, which first debuted on the show in 1970 to help children understand that monsters could be kind and helpful companions.
The figure was produced during a period when Funko was aggressively expanding its licensing to include classic educational television properties, aiming to appeal to both nostalgia-driven adult collectors and a new generation of fans. By maintaining a clean, stylized aesthetic that remains faithful to the Muppet's tactile, fur-covered texture, the designers successfully translated a complex puppet design into the standardized vinyl format. It remains a representative piece of the broader Sesame Street collection, favored for its faithfulness to the original character design.
