Where it came from
Hester Shaw, represented here as she appears in the 2018 film Mortal Engines, is part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, specifically designated as number 680. The figure depicts the protagonist of Philip Reeve's post-apocalyptic saga during the cinematic adaptation directed by Christian Rivers. The design focuses on her distinctive appearance, including the signature scar that defines her character, aiming to translate the gritty aesthetic of the film into the simplified, stylized vinyl form characteristic of the brand.
This collectible was released as part of a tie-in set for the film’s theatrical run. The sculpting process for figures in this series typically seeks to balance the iconic Funko aesthetic with specific costume details, such as Hester's rugged, scavenger-inspired attire. Like many figures in the Pop! Movies category, this item was intended to serve as a memento for fans of the source material and the film adaptation, though it arrived amidst a mixed critical and commercial reception for the movie itself.
