Holiday Grimace

The Holiday Grimace Pop! figure was released as part of Funko’s Ad Icons series, a line dedicated to celebrating the legacy of iconic corporate mascots and advertising characters. This specific iteration captures the McDonald’s character Grimace dressed in a festive Santa Claus outfit, blending the nostalgia of 1970s and 80s fast-food branding with the contemporary collectible trend of stylized vinyl figures. The design retains the character’s signature rounded, amorphous silhouette while incorporating seasonal elements like a hat and scarf, reflecting Funko's strategy of reimagining classic icons for holiday-themed limited releases.

The Ad Icons series has become a significant pillar of the Funko Pop! brand, appealing to collectors who value pop culture history and mid-century modern advertising art. These figures were developed to leverage the enduring cultural recognition of mascots like Grimace, who debuted in 1971 as a 'mischievous' character before evolving into the friendly purple figure known today. By transforming these marketing mainstays into physical collectibles, the design team at Funko focused on nostalgic aesthetic appeal, which has resonated with a broad audience of collectors who grew up with the McDonaldland brand.
