Where it came from
Hungry Hungry Hippos originated as a tabletop game released by Hasbro in 1978, designed by Fred Kroll. The game, which features mechanical hippos competing to consume marbles, was inspired by the simple, frantic nature of physical play. Its enduring appeal lies in its straightforward mechanics and the distinct, nostalgic sound of the marbles clicking against the plastic board.
This Funko Pop! Digital collectible, numbered 124 in the Retro Toys series, translates the game's recognizable aesthetic into a stylized vinyl form. Designed with the signature oversized head and simplified features characteristic of the Pop! line, the figure serves as a tribute to the brand's legacy in toy history. It was released as part of Funko's digital initiative, which bridges classic toy nostalgia with modern digital asset collecting.
