Stretch Armstrong (Stretched)

The Funko Pop! Retro Toys line began as a nostalgic tribute to iconic playthings of the twentieth century, with the Stretch Armstrong figure, numbered 01, serving as the inaugural release for the series. Released to capitalize on the enduring cultural footprint of the original 1976 action figure, this Pop! iteration translates the character's signature look—an oversized, blond, muscular wrestler in a simple swimsuit—into the stylized, large-headed aesthetic synonymous with the brand.

The original Stretch Armstrong toy was created by Jesse Horowitz for Kenner Products, designed as an innovative gimmick toy filled with gelled corn syrup that could be pulled and distorted. The Funko design team chose to replicate this classic character in vinyl to evoke a sense of childhood wonder, aiming to bridge the gap between vintage toy collectors and contemporary vinyl figure enthusiasts. Upon its release, the figure was met with steady interest from long-time fans who appreciated the playful nod to toy history.
