Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Star Wars line, this figure commemorates the 40th anniversary of the 1983 film Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. It depicts Chewbacca in his appearance during the rescue sequence at the Great Pit of Carkoon, specifically as he stands atop one of the desert skiffs operated by Jabba the Hutt’s guards. The figure is part of a broader celebratory series designed to capture key characters and moments from the film's climactic opening act.
The design follows the standard Funko Pop! aesthetic, featuring the brand's signature oversized head and stylized, simplified proportions. It was created to appeal to long-time Star Wars collectors and fans of the original trilogy, focusing on nostalgic recall of the rescue mission. Like much of the 40th-anniversary range, the figure serves as a tangible piece of franchise memorabilia, aimed at those who appreciate the film's legacy and the ongoing tradition of character-based collectibles.
