Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, this figure represents Jack the Ripper, a prominent character from the popular manga and anime series Black Clover. The series, created by Yuki Tabata, follows the journey of Asta in a world dominated by magic. Jack, serving as the captain of the Green Mantis squad, is characterized by his eccentric, blade-wielding combat style and his distinctively jagged appearance, which Funko sought to translate into their signature stylized vinyl aesthetic.
The design process for the Black Clover collection aimed to capture the essence of the show's diverse group of Magic Knight captains. For Jack, designers emphasized his iconic grin and the serrated blade protrusions on his arms, ensuring the figure remained recognizable within the line's minimalist proportions. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the series, who appreciated the expansion of the Black Clover roster beyond the main protagonists into the broader cast of supporting mages.
