Where it came from
Junior Soprano, also known as Uncle June, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line in 2024 to celebrate the enduring legacy of the HBO series The Sopranos. The figure was produced as part of a long-awaited wave of collectibles based on the groundbreaking crime drama, which originally aired between 1999 and 2007. The item serves as a tribute to the character portrayed by Dominic Chianese, capturing his quintessential look from the show, including his signature glasses and sweater vest, which were central to his portrayal of the grumpy but power-hungry patriarch of the Soprano family.
The design of the figure is consistent with the standard Funko aesthetic, featuring the brand's signature oversized head and stylized facial features. Funko’s creative team aimed to distill Junior’s complex personality—often characterized by his mix of petty grievances and cold-blooded ambition—into a simplified collectible form. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the series who had requested Sopranos-themed merchandise for years, marking it as a highlight of the television collection.
