Where it came from
Juzo Honenuki, also known as the hero 'Vantablack,' is a character from the popular manga and anime series My Hero Academia. Introduced as a student in Class 1-B at U.A. High School, he is noted for his quirk, Softening, which allows him to turn anything he touches into a semi-solid state. As part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, this figure was released to capture his distinct appearance, which includes a skull-like mask and a utilitarian hero costume, reflecting his role as a tactical combatant during the Joint Training Arc.
The design of the figure adheres to Funko's signature stylized aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and simplified facial features characteristic of the Pop! brand. It was developed to expand the series' roster beyond the main protagonists, catering to fans of the expanded U.A. curriculum. The figure was met with positive reception from collectors of the My Hero Academia set, who value the representation of secondary characters who play pivotal roles in the show's team-based competition narrative.
