Where it came from
King Triton, numbered 1365 in the Pop! Disney series, was released to coincide with the 2023 live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. This figure represents the character as portrayed by Javier Bardem, moving away from the animated aesthetic of the original 1989 film toward the grounded, intricate costume design developed for the modern reimagining. The figure is characterized by the trident, flowing beard, and regal armor intended to reflect the scale and gravitas of the live-action production.
Funko designers developed this figure to bridge the gap between the studio's recognizable vinyl aesthetic and the specific visual identity of the 2023 film. By focusing on the texture of the armor and the character's facial features, the design team sought to capture the solemnity inherent in this version of the King of Atlantica. Upon its release, the item became a standard addition to the broader Disney live-action wave, primarily appealing to fans of the franchise and collectors of the Pop! Disney line seeking to complete the cast set.
