Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Icons series, this figure commemorates Kirk Hammett, the longtime lead guitarist for the heavy metal band Metallica. The design draws directly from Hammett’s well-known passion for classic horror cinema, specifically portraying him with his iconic Frankenstein monster guitar, which is inspired by the 1931 Universal Pictures film.
The figure serves as a tribute to Hammett's identity as a dedicated collector of horror memorabilia and a pivotal figure in modern music history. Funko’s design team sought to blend the recognizable aesthetic of the Pop! vinyl line with the specific visual signatures of Hammett’s stage presence, creating a crossover piece that appeals to both music fans and enthusiasts of classic horror iconography.
