Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Icons series, this figure commemorates Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and his lifelong passion for classic horror cinema. Hammett is a renowned collector of horror memorabilia, and this figure captures him in an artistic crossover with the iconic Gill-man from the 1954 film 'Creature from the Black Lagoon'.
The design team at Funko developed this figure to reflect Hammett’s personal aesthetic and his public association with monster culture. By merging the likeness of the musician with the aesthetic of the Universal Monsters, the design serves as a tribute to both the legacy of mid-century horror films and Hammett's influence on the heavy metal genre, finding favor among both vinyl toy collectors and music enthusiasts.
