Where it came from
The Funko Pop! 8-bit Lucas figure, numbered 19 in the series, was released as part of a creative crossover that reimagined characters from the Netflix series Stranger Things in the aesthetic of 1980s video game graphics. This line launched to celebrate the show's heavy reliance on period-accurate nostalgia, translating the complex 3D character models typical of the standard Funko line into blocky, pixelated forms reminiscent of early console gaming.
The design was handled by the internal Funko creative team, who focused on capturing the distinct signature elements of Lucas Sinclair, such as his camouflage bandana and jacket, while adhering to the limitations of a low-resolution digital look. The series was met with interest from collectors who appreciated the meta-commentary on the show's setting, positioning the figures as both a tribute to the character and a nod to the era of primitive gaming hardware.
