Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, this figure depicts Lurtz, the leader of the Uruk-hai and the primary antagonist of the first film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Funko designed the figure to capture the character's distinct appearance, including his war paint and the heavy armor forged in the pits of Isengard, reflecting the studio's goal of translating Peter Jackson’s cinematic vision into the stylized, large-eyed aesthetic characteristic of the brand.
The figure arrived during a period of significant expansion for the Pop! line as they secured broader licensing agreements with major fantasy franchises. By focusing on iconic villains like Lurtz, Funko aimed to appeal to fans of the films who sought physical representations of secondary characters that often lacked merchandise representation elsewhere. The figure was generally well-received by collectors for its attention to detail, specifically the inclusion of the character's signature bow and the battle-worn texture of his gear.
