Where it came from
The Mantis Funko Pop, numbered 204, was released in 2017 as part of the merchandise line supporting the theatrical debut of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This figure represents the character's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically capturing the likeness of actress Pom Klementieff. The design emphasizes her signature antennae and the distinctive aesthetic of the Guardians' uniforms established in the film's sequel.
Funko’s design team created this piece following their standard stylized aesthetic, which features a large, square-shaped head and simplified body proportions intended to make the character recognizable to collectors. Upon its release, the figure was welcomed by fans of the franchise as a key addition to the expanding roster of Guardians characters. It remains a staple of early Marvel Cinematic Universe collections, reflecting the studio's broader effort to create accessible memorabilia for a growing global audience.
