Where it came from
The Mark Hamill Pop! Icons figure, numbered 28 in the series, was released to celebrate the actor's multifaceted career beyond his most famous roles. While globally recognized for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker, Hamill earned significant critical acclaim and a devoted cult following for his distinct, gravelly voice work as the Joker in various animated DC projects, starting with Batman: The Animated Series in the early 1990s. This figure specifically honors his contribution to the character, capturing his likeness alongside the iconic persona he helped define.
Funko’s design approach for the Icons series focuses on distilling a public figure's legacy into the signature stylized aesthetic of their Pop! line. The design team sought to blend Hamill’s recognizable features with the theatrical elements of the Joker, creating a piece that functions as a meta-tribute to his craft as a voice actor. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of both the DC Animated Universe and toy collectors, who viewed it as a clever acknowledgement of the actor's long-standing influence on modern superhero media.
