Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Rocks series, this figure depicts Mick Thomson, the lead guitarist and long-standing member of the heavy metal band Slipknot. The figure captures his signature persona, characterized by his distinct, metallic-textured mask, which has evolved through the band's various album cycles. This specific design leans into the aesthetic of the 'We Are Not Your Kind' era, reflecting the band's commitment to visual iconography that matches their aggressive musical style.
The figure was produced to celebrate Slipknot's enduring influence on modern metal. Like other entries in the Rocks line, it is intended for fans who collect representations of iconic musical figures. The design process focused on translating Thomson's intimidating stage presence into the stylized, large-headed vinyl format that has become a staple of contemporary pop culture memorabilia. Upon release, the item was met with enthusiasm by the band's dedicated fanbase, known as 'maggots,' as a accessible way to commemorate the members of the group.
