Where it came from
Muncher is a spectral entity introduced in the 2021 film Ghostbusters: Afterlife, serving as a modern homage to the iconic ghosts of the original franchise. Designed by Funko for their Pop! Movies series, the figure captures the character's mischievous, metallic-eating appearance, complete with his signature blue hue and translucent aesthetic. It was released to coincide with the film's theatrical debut, aimed at fans looking to commemorate the series' return to the big screen.
The figure reflects the design language typical of the Pop! line, featuring the stylized oversized head and minimalist features that have defined the brand's aesthetic. Like other releases in the Ghostbusters collection, it was received as a nostalgic collectible, bridging the gap between legacy fans of the 1980s films and a new generation of viewers. It remains a recognizable piece within the broader set of Afterlife merchandise.
