Provenance

Where it came from

The Muncher Funko Pop, numbered 929 in the Pop! Movies series, was released to coincide with the 2021 film Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It depicts the film's spectral antagonist, an entity capable of consuming metal, and was designed to fit into the stylized, large-headed aesthetic characteristic of the Funko brand. This particular variant, exclusive to FYE retailers, features a glow-in-the-dark finish to highlight the character's ectoplasmic nature.

Funko’s design team developed this figure to capture the mischievous expression of the ghost, utilizing the signature vinyl construction to appeal to both franchise fans and collectors of pop culture memorabilia. As a retailer-exclusive variant, the GITD Muncher was intended to incentivize collector traffic to FYE storefronts, leveraging the anticipated nostalgia and excitement surrounding the revival of the Ghostbusters cinematic universe.
