Where it came from
The Niffler Pop! figure, numbered 09 in the Fantastic Beasts series, was released in 2016 to coincide with the cinematic debut of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. As a key creature in Newt Scamander’s menagerie, the Niffler was adapted into Funko's signature stylized aesthetic, featuring the character clutching a gold coin to reflect its hoard-driven nature. This figure was designed to capture the whimsical charm of J.K. Rowling’s expanded wizarding world, marking the beginning of Funko’s efforts to broaden the Harry Potter collectibles line beyond the original Hogwarts-centric cast.
Funko’s design team emphasized the character's long snout and mischievous expression, balancing the standard Pop! silhouette with specific details from the film’s creature effects team. The Niffler became an immediate standout among the Fantastic Beasts wave due to the creature's high popularity with audiences and its distinctive role in the film's plot. Reception was largely driven by fans of the magical creature designs, establishing it as one of the more sought-after individual releases within the broader Fantastic Beasts collection.
