Where it came from
This Obi-Wan Kenobi figure, numbered 392, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Star Wars collection commemorating the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. It depicts the character's spectral appearance, rendered in a translucent, glow-in-the-dark vinyl material to mirror the ethereal nature of his Force ghost persona as seen in the original trilogy. The design leans into the simplified, oversized-head aesthetic characteristic of the Pop! line, capturing the iconic silhouette of the Jedi Master while distinguishing this specific variant through its luminous, otherworldly finish.
The figure was produced to honor the legacy of the 1980 film and the enduring impact of Star Wars on pop culture collecting. Funko chose to highlight this pivotal moment in the cinematic narrative by prioritizing the glow-in-the-dark feature, a popular aesthetic choice for characters associated with supernatural or energy-based phenomena within the franchise. Upon release, it was well-received by collectors who specialize in Star Wars anniversary sets, serving as both a thematic centerpiece for the 40th-anniversary sub-series and a nostalgic nod to the character's guidance of Luke Skywalker.
