Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Comics line, the Odyn figure represents a character from the gritty, dystopian landscape of 'The Last Ronin,' a miniseries published by IDW. The storyline, rooted in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mythos, serves as a dark departure from traditional iterations, focusing on a singular surviving turtle seeking vengeance. The figure captures the aesthetic of this grim future, emphasizing the stark visual departure that characterized Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's reimagining of the franchise.
The design of the figure adheres to the standardized Funko aesthetic, characterized by large, expressive eyes and a compact, stylized frame. By translating the complex, battle-hardened designs of the comic source material into the simplified vinyl form factor, Funko intended to provide collectors with a tangible representation of the Ronin’s supporting cast. Upon release, the figure was received primarily by fans of the comic series who sought to expand their collections beyond the core four turtles, serving as a recognition of the series' broader character roster.
