Where it came from
The Papa Legba Pop figure, numbered 175 in the American Horror Story collection, was released by Funko to commemorate the third season of the anthology series, Coven. The character, a powerful Loa spirit portrayed by Lance Reddick, is a central figure in the season's exploration of voodoo mythology and serves as the gatekeeper between the living and the dead. The figure was produced during a period of rapid expansion for the Pop brand, as Funko sought to capitalize on the popularity of dark, niche television franchises.
The design of the figure captures the character's signature Victorian-inspired aesthetic, complete with his distinctive top hat, cane, and formal dark attire. Funko designers prioritized capturing the unsettling, mystical essence of the character, utilizing the brand's iconic oversized head and stylized features to render his stoic expression. Upon release, the figure was well-received by fans of the series and collectors of the horror genre, noted for its accurate representation of the television portrayal.
