Where it came from
Released as part of the extensive Funko Pop! Disney line, this figure depicts Pongo, the iconic Dalmatian protagonist from the 1961 Disney animated feature 101 Dalmatians. The figure was produced to celebrate the enduring legacy of the film, which was a landmark achievement for Disney due to its innovative use of the Xerox process, a method that allowed for the direct transfer of animators' pencil drawings onto cels to manage the daunting task of animating dozens of spotted dogs simultaneously.
The design follows the signature Pop! aesthetic, characterized by a large, stylized head, oversized eyes, and a minimalist body frame. As part of the broader Disney series, the figure serves as a collectible homage to the character's charming temperament and classic mid-century animation design. It has been well-received by fans of Disney animation and collectors of modern vinyl figures, functioning as a contemporary artifact of a beloved cultural milestone.
