Where it came from
Poochie was introduced to audiences during the 1997 The Simpsons episode 'The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show.' Designed by the show's writers as a satirical take on desperate network attempts to revitalize aging cartoons with 'cool' new characters, Poochie was intentionally over-the-top, featuring sunglasses, a backwards cap, and a rebellious attitude that poked fun at 1990s marketing tropes. The character serves as a meta-commentary on executive interference and the absurdity of corporate-mandated trends in animation.
This Funko Pop! figure captures the character's signature look, complete with his surfboard and iconic vest. Released as part of the Pop! Television line, it commemorates one of the most memorable guest stars in Springfield history. The figure preserves the intentional clash of aesthetics that made the character a cult favorite, acknowledging the legacy of the episode as a classic critique of television production culture.
