Where it came from
Prince Yan, also known as Yan of the Shi'ar Empire, was introduced to the Marvel Universe as a character in the X-Men comics. This Funko Pop! figure, numbered 1254, was released as part of the broader Pop! Marvel line, which Funko uses to celebrate characters from across the company's decades of comic book history. The design captures the regal attire of the prince, reflecting the cosmic and imperial aesthetic associated with the Shi'ar royalty within the X-Men mythos.
The figure was produced to provide collectors with a representative of a significant, albeit niche, character in X-Men lore. Like other figures in the Marvel series, it was designed with the hallmark oversized head and simplified features characteristic of the Pop! style. Its release allowed fans of deep-cut comic book characters to include a member of the Shi'ar royal family in their displays, maintaining the consistent design language that Funko has established across their extensive library of licensed pop culture collectibles.
