Where it came from
The Pusheen with Cupcake vinyl figure, designated as number 28 in the Pop! Pusheen line, was released by Funko to celebrate the widespread popularity of the internet-famous webcomic cat. Created by Claire Belton in 2010, the character Pusheen evolved from a recurring figure in the webcomic Everyday Cute into a global cultural phenomenon known for her round, grey aesthetic and love of food. This figure captures the character's signature look, featuring her signature stripes and whiskers while holding a small frosted cupcake.
The design of this collectible adheres to the classic Funko Pop! aesthetic, characterized by a stylized oversized head, simplified facial features, and a compact, seated pose. By selecting the 'Pusheen with Cupcake' iteration, the designers aimed to encapsulate the character's most recognizable activities: eating and relaxing. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the Pusheen brand, serving as a staple piece for collectors of both the webcomic merchandise and the broader Pop! vinyl figure franchise.
