Where it came from
Rahzar was released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line in 2021, commemorating the character's appearance in the 1991 cult classic film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. The figure represents the mutated Doberman Pinscher, one of Shredder's primary henchmen, created alongside his counterpart Tokka as a replacement for Bebop and Rocksteady. This release reflects the ongoing interest in 1990s nostalgia and the specific aesthetic of the practical creature effects used in the live-action TMNT franchise.
The design of the figure translates the heavy, armored look of the film's suit into the iconic stylized proportions of the Funko Pop! aesthetic. Designers focused on capturing the character's distinct jagged mane, oversized teeth, and spiked wrist guards to ensure instant recognizability for fans of the source material. Upon its release, it was received as a definitive addition for collectors of TMNT memorabilia, serving as a tangible connection to a specific era of cinematic puppetry and character design.
