Where it came from
Released as part of the Pop! Animation line, this figure captures Ren Höek, the neurotically intense chihuahua from the 1990s Nickelodeon cult classic The Ren & Stimpy Show. The series, created by John Kricfalusi, was renowned for its transgressive humor and grotesque, highly expressive animation style, which pushed the boundaries of children's television at the time. This Funko iteration focuses on Ren’s signature wide-eyed, manic facial expression, distilling the character's erratic energy into the brand's recognizable vinyl aesthetic.
The figure was produced to celebrate the enduring legacy of the show, which remains a touchstone of 1990s animation history. Funko’s design team aimed to capture the essence of Ren’s volatile personality through the simplified form factor of the Pop! template, opting for his classic stance. Upon release, it was warmly received by fans of the series and collectors of animation memorabilia, serving as a nostalgic tribute to the groundbreaking show that heavily influenced the aesthetic of subsequent decades in television.
