Where it came from
The Reptar Pop! figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, drawing from the iconic 1990s Nickelodeon series Rugrats. Reptar serves as a fictional pop-culture phenomenon within the show—a giant, Godzilla-esque dinosaur who became the favorite character of the toddler protagonists. This specific glow-in-the-dark variant was designed to capture the radioactive, neon aesthetic of the character as he often appeared in the show's parodies of monster movies.
Funko’s design approach for this figure focused on the classic, chunky Pop! silhouette, emphasizing Reptar's distinctive jagged teeth, large tail, and vibrant green coloring. The decision to incorporate phosphorescent materials was a deliberate nod to the character's status as a creature from science fiction cinema. Upon its release, the figure was met with significant nostalgia from fans who grew up during the peak of the Rugrats era, cementing its place as a staple of 90s-themed toy collections.
