Where it came from
Rita Repulsa, the iconic extraterrestrial sorceress from the Power Rangers franchise, was released as figure number 401 in the Pop! Movies line. This item was produced to commemorate the 2017 theatrical reboot of the Power Rangers, which reimagined the classic 1990s television series for a modern audience. The figure captures the character's updated, more organic and armored aesthetic introduced in the film, departing from the original show's traditional costuming.
The design of this Pop! vinyl focuses on the character's jagged, metallic-green color scheme and signature horned headdress. Funko’s design team aimed to translate the more complex textures of the film’s villain into their trademark simplified, bobble-headed format. While the 2017 film received a mixed critical reception, the associated toy line became a point of interest for collectors of sci-fi memorabilia and fans of the long-running Tokusatsu-inspired franchise.
