Sadness (Glitter Hair) [SDCC]

The Sadness (Glitter Hair) variant was released as a 2015 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, produced by Funko as part of their Pop! Disney line. This figure was created to coincide with the theatrical release of Pixar’s Inside Out, which explores the complex emotions of a young girl. The design choice to include glitter in the character's signature blue hair was intended to reflect the whimsical, stylized aesthetic of the film while providing a shimmering, limited-edition chase appeal for convention attendees.

Designed by Funko's internal creative team, the figure maintains the standard Pop! silhouette but differentiates itself from the common #133 release through its distinct finish. Upon its debut, the figure became a sought-after piece for Pixar collectors and convention-goers alike. It represents a period where Funko began significantly expanding its presence at major pop culture conventions, using glitter-variant exclusives as a primary strategy to drive engagement and hype within the growing vinyl figure community.
