Where it came from
Share Bear was released as part of the Funko Pop! Pez series, which combines the stylized aesthetic of Funko's signature vinyl figures with the iconic, nostalgic design of Pez dispensers. This line emerged from a collaborative licensing effort between Funko and Pez, aiming to capture a cross-generational audience by merging two staples of pop culture collectibles. The Share Bear character originates from the Care Bears franchise, which was created by American Greetings in the early 1980s to feature on greeting cards before expanding into a global phenomenon of animation and merchandise.
The design of the Pop! Pez series emphasizes a uniform, minimalist look that adapts the Care Bears' classic rounded, expressive features into the rigid, functional form of a traditional Pez dispenser top. Share Bear is depicted with her characteristic lavender fur and the belly badge featuring two crossing lollipops, symbolizing her role in promoting sharing and friendship. The collection was designed to appeal to both adult toy collectors and fans of 1980s nostalgia, and it is generally received as a playful tribute to vintage confectionery marketing.
