Where it came from
Shere Khan was released as part of the Pop! Disney line in 2014, represented as figure number 102. The piece draws inspiration from the antagonist of the 1967 animated film The Jungle Book, a character famously voiced by George Sanders. Its design reflects Funko's signature aesthetic, reimagining the sleek and menacing tiger as a stylized, oversized-headed vinyl figure with simplified, blocky features consistent with the broader Disney character collection of that era.
The figure was produced during a period when Funko was rapidly expanding its catalog of classic Disney villains. Collectors often prize this item for its role in completing early Disney sets, noting that while the sculpt is minimal, it captures the character's key visual cues, such as his dark stripes and menacing expression. It arrived at a time when the Pop! line was transitioning from a niche hobbyist item into a mainstream collectible, influencing its current status as a mid-tier rarity within the original Disney series.
