Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Rocks series in 2012, this figure commemorates Sid Vicious, the iconic and tumultuous bassist of the English punk rock band, the Sex Pistols. The figure depicts Vicious in his signature late-1970s aesthetic, complete with his distinctive spiky hair, leather jacket, and padlock necklace, capturing the raw, confrontational energy that defined the band's brief but influential career during the mid-1970s London punk scene.
Funko’s design approach for the Rocks line emphasizes stylized caricature, translating the band's notorious stage persona into a compact, vinyl format. This specific figure was created to celebrate the legacy of the Sex Pistols, who are widely credited with sparking the punk movement in the United Kingdom. Upon its release, the figure was welcomed by music memorabilia enthusiasts and collectors of rock-themed iconography as a playful, accessible homage to a polarizing figure in musical history.
