Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney series to celebrate the legacy of the 1940 animated feature film Fantasia, this figure captures Mickey Mouse in his iconic role as the Sorcerer's Apprentice. The piece was designed to commemorate the film's enduring impact on animation history, specifically the sequence where Mickey attempts to command the brooms using Yen Sid’s hat. Its development aligns with Funko's strategy of revisiting classic Disney milestones through their signature stylized aesthetic.
The design prioritizes the recognizable silhouette of the blue star-studded sorcerer’s hat and the red robe worn by Mickey during the scene. Artists focused on capturing his dynamic posture as he directs his magic, ensuring the figure remains consistent with the established Pop! design language while referencing the specific visual cues from the movie. Upon release, it was met with positive reception from Disney collectors who appreciated the nod to one of the most famous segments in the studio's cinematic history.
