Where it came from
The Sorcerer Mickey figure, part of the Funko Pop! Disney series and numbered 993, was produced to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the landmark 1940 film Fantasia. The design captures Mickey Mouse in his iconic role as the Sorcerer's Apprentice, featuring his distinctive blue robe and pointed hat adorned with celestial patterns. This iteration was released as a larger 10-inch version, appealing to collectors seeking a more substantial display piece that highlights the intricate details of the character's cinematic appearance.
Funko’s design philosophy for this figure focuses on the marriage of the brand's signature stylized aesthetic with the historical gravitas of Disney’s animation legacy. By scaling the figure to 10 inches, the designers aimed to offer a premium collectible that serves as a centerpiece for enthusiasts of the Fantasia film. Upon its release, it was well-received by the collecting community for its balance of nostalgia and the whimsical, oversized proportions characteristic of the Pop! line.
