Where it came from
Doreen Green, better known as the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #8 in 1991. Created by Will Murray and Steve Ditko, the character was initially conceived as a lighthearted, eccentric hero who used her unique squirrel-based powers to defeat major villains, often in humorous or unconventional ways. Over the decades, she evolved from a niche curiosity into a cult favorite, eventually headlining her own acclaimed ongoing series that emphasized positivity, intelligence, and empathy as legitimate superhero traits.
This Funko Pop! Comic Covers figure, numbered 45 in the series, depicts the character as she appeared in her modern solo title. The design mirrors the aesthetic of the 2015 'The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl' #1 cover, illustrated by Erica Henderson. The figure captures her classic costume, featuring her signature bushy tail and oversized squirrel ears. It is housed in a protective acrylic display case that serves as a backdrop, mimicking the appearance of a bagged and boarded comic book, a tribute to the medium that facilitated her rise to popularity.
