Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, this two-pack commemorates the iconic 1993 film The Sandlot. The figures depict the central moment of Squints Palledorous faking a drowning incident at the local pool to steal a kiss from the lifeguard, Wendy Peffercorn. This specific set was designed to capture the nostalgia of the coming-of-age classic, featuring Squints in his signature oversized glasses and Wendy in her 1960s-style red swimsuit and visor.
The set was produced to celebrate the film's enduring cultural footprint, appealing to fans who grew up during the 1990s. Funko prioritized character recognition, ensuring the sculpting reflected the specific aesthetic of the scene. Upon release, the figures were well-received by collectors of film memorabilia, serving as a distinct homage to one of the most frequently referenced romantic tropes in youth cinema.
