Strawberry Shortcake

The Strawberry Shortcake Funko Pop! figure, number 138 in the Retro Toys line, was produced to commemorate the enduring legacy of the character, who debuted as a greeting card illustration by Muriel Fahrion for American Greetings in 1979. The character became a global phenomenon in the 1980s, driven by a highly successful line of scented dolls that defined a generation of collectible toys. This Pop! figure captures the iconic aesthetic of the original 1980s design, featuring her signature bonnet and bright, fruit-themed palette.

Funko’s design team developed this figure to evoke nostalgia among adult collectors who grew up during the height of the brand's popularity. By adhering to the standardized Pop! vinyl aesthetic—characterized by oversized heads and minimalist features—the designers managed to translate the soft, whimsical nature of the original doll into a modern, shelf-ready display piece. The release was met with appreciation from the toy collecting community, particularly those interested in the 'Retro Toys' segment that highlights cultural touchstones from the late twentieth century.
