Superman (The Dark Knight Returns)

This Funko Pop! figure, numbered 114 in the Heroes series, is based on Frank Miller’s iconic 1986 graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns. The design captures the specific aesthetic of Miller's Superman, who serves as a government-sanctioned enforcer in a dystopian future. The figure leans into the gritty, heavy-set depiction of the character, emphasizing a more authoritative and uncompromising silhouette that differentiates it from the classic portrayals seen in mainstream DC Comics runs.

The Dark Knight Returns remains one of the most influential works in comic book history, credited with shifting the tone of the medium toward a more mature, complex style. Funko’s interpretation of this version of Superman was released to provide collectors with a character model that reflects this specific narrative shift. It was received as a faithful homage to Miller’s stylized art, appealing primarily to long-time readers who appreciate the departure from the traditional, brighter aesthetic associated with the character.
